Somehow found 2 different drivers for the device on their website, but neither installed successfully. No worries I thought, I'll go to their website and download the driver. Unable to get driver off the CD as the machine doesn't have a CD drive. Tried to get it to work with my wife's Macbook Air, running MacOS Catalina - didn't work without driver.
J5CREATE DRIVER USB TO ETHERNET MAC INSTALL
I bought this and it works well with both the Windows laptop and the ChromeOS laptop in our household - didn't need to install drivers for either. Meantime, it's aesthetically pleasing, so there's that. It may be because it only wants to see a connection via thunderbolt port, or because the J5 software isn't compatible with Big Sur (there are some on-line notes suggesting there may be some issues), but regardless it ain't doing what it says on the tin! If I get the time I'll drop it back and let PB Tech take a look. For whatever reason, the computer steadfastly refuses to see the ethernet connection on the port. So - bought this to connect my Macbook Air via ethernet, USB 3 connection.
